After a long aperture, as schools and colleges were permitted to reopen, the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate(ASISC) scheduled the most coveted Father George Hess Memorial Literary Competitions in various schools across the country.
Lions Calcutta Greater Vidya Mandir was chosen to host the Debate Competition for the Senior Category(Classes XI & XII) on 10th August,2022. Students from 47 schools across the city and West Bengal and NE registered for the event. The on spot registration began at 8:30 a.m. followed by the disclosure of the debate topic for the Prelim round. The topic was:
“In the 21st Century, women still face challenges for gender equality in the digital space”
As per the rules, candidates were given one hour preparation time and at 10:30 a.m. the Prelim Round began in two Pools at two different venues with 23 teams in Pool A and 24 in Pool B respectively. Four Teams from each Pool were selected for the Final Round by our esteemed panel of judges after a gruelling tug – of – war of words.
The Final Round began with 8 Teams and the topic was
“Crypto currency is not just a fad but the future of the country”
The exuberance rose as all the eight teams showcased their vociferous, insistent and uninhibited of vocals yet keeping the etiquette of genteel training. The verbal war of words continued as the afternoon wore on, posing for the judges an unfeasible task of selecting the winners from the debating masterminds of each team.
The winners were felicitated and all participants received words of appreciation from the judges.
Here’s a synopsis of the final result of the competition as declared by the judges:
