DIGITAL DREAMS WORKSHOP BY ASISC

The three-day cinematic odyssey, "Digital Dreams," initiated by the ASISC, unfolded with an immersive workshop to provide hands- on learning experience on the art of filmmaking. Hosted by the Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School, sponsored by ASISC National and organized by ASISC Regional (WEST BENGAL & NORTH EAST), this event was a collective endeavour to nurture the creative spirits of young minds enthralled by the art of filmmaking and photography. Students of Class XI from 12 different schools including the host school participated in this workshop.

The workshop commenced on 11 th December with an introductory speech by Renesa Sinha, a student at Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School. Mr. Ashwin Kumar Medidi, the school administrator, initiated the event with a heartfelt opening prayer. The following moments saw the CEO of DMHSS, Mr. Shashi Kant Gidla, leading a soulful Bible reading, accompanied by a captivating opening song performed by the school choir. Ms. Sonia Gidla, the Principal of the school, took the stage to illuminate the audience on the nuances of filmmaking, setting the tone for the enlightening days ahead. The mentors, Mr. Abhishek Ganguli and Mr. Tathagata Bhattacharjee, provided invaluable insights into scriptwriting, shot division and the captivating journey of transforming a script into a visual masterpiece. Mr. Abhishek Ganguli demonstrated the use of different cameras and the basics of lighting and sound recording.

Day two unfolded with Mr. Abhishek Ganguli emphasizing the significance of editing in filmmaking, the art of editing, timelines, organizing assets, video and audio layers, transitions, special effects, and more. Ms. Veronica Kayal shed light on the critical role of production management in filmmaking. The highlight of the day was Ms. Alakananda Pramanik randomly selecting students to share their "Career in the world of Films & Frames" in front of the camera.

The final day, 13 th December, was a symphony of creativity as mentors Mr. Indranil Roy and Ms. Sanhita Bhaumik facilitated a discussion on photography, rules, and the artistic aspects of framing. Students, divided into groups, selected a theme for their photo story, and ventured outdoors to capture their narratives. The day concluded with the presentation of each group's photo story and insightful feedback offeredchy the mentors. Mentor Ms. Ipsita Kundu from the National School of Drama, added a performance-oriented flair to the event. Each participant was recognised by Mr. Robin De, Bengal's leading YouTuber, and Ms. Sonia Gidla, the school principal. In essence, Digital Dreams became a canvas where passion, creativity, and learning blended seamlessly, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of all participants. The event stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, artistic expression, and the boundless potential of young dreamers in the realm of filmmaking and photography.
