ASISC Regional Level Creative Writing Competition 2019

 

The Regional Level Creative writing Competition 2019,under the Association of Schools for the ISC  West Bengal Chapter (ASISC,WB and NE states), was held at Delhi Public School Megacity Kolkata, on September 6, 2019.

The Principal, Mrs. Indrani Sanyal initiated the competition by declaring the topic sharp at 10 am. The topics were “The Miracles of Common Life”, “Time Travel”, and “Success belongs to those who can handle it” for the Sub Junior, junior and senior categories respectively.                                                                                                                                                                     The Principal considers it an honour to be given an opportunity by the ASISC, to host this prestigious event.

The Chief Guest Dr. M.P.Rozario, Principal St. Sebastian School and President ASISC WB and NE states, Mr. Ranjan Mitter Principal Future Foundation School and the Secretary ASISC WB and NE state, Mr. Sailesh Pandey, Principal Ratnakar North Point School Howrah and Vice President ASISC WB and NE states, Ms.Ahana Bhattacharjee Regional coordinator ASISC WB and NE states, were graciously welcomed by our Principal on this momentous occasion.Mrs. Indrani Sanyal also extended a warm welcome to the evaluators and teachers of the other schools accompanying their students.

The evaluators for the event were Ms.Sudakshina Dutt and Ms.Ishita Dasgupta from Salt Lake School, Ms.Sadhana Halder and Ms.Merlyn Dagama from Saint Stephen School Dumdum, Ms.Raka Bhattacharya and Ms.Janelle Joan Rodrigues from Auxilium Convent School Dumdum.

While 27 schools participated in the Senior level, there were 30 and 14 schools participating at the Junior and Sub Junior level respectively. The  total number of participants were 71. The competitors were granted half an hour to prepare themselves. The writing time commenced at 10.30 am and continued till 12.00 noon.

The entire proceedings of the magnanimous event went on very smoothly, keeping strict adherence to all the strictures prescribed by the ASISC. The event was conducted in an AC auditorium. The participants were provided with separate desks and chairs, which were spaced out in an organized manner. Three white boards displaying the three topics along with sufficient wall clocks were present in front of each row allotted for each category. The auditorium was also equipped with a water dispenser and rest rooms nearby.

The evaluators, the accompanying teachers, along with the participants were provided with lunch. While awaiting the declaration of results, a documentary on “Animal Life”, was screened for the teachers accompanying the students. The participants were also delighted to watch an English classic by William Shakespeare from 1.00pm to 2.15 pm.

 Mr. Ranjan Mitter conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the host school, all the guests ,the evaluators and also the escorting teachers. He specially acknowledged the organizational acumen of Mrs. Indrani Sanyal the Principal of the host school along with her team.

Mr. Mitter noted that “CISCE prides itself on English Language, which today is not only an International language but also very much an Indian Language, a part of the three language formula of India. He observed that Debate, Declamation, Creative Writing, and Painting are very much a part of the soul which CISCE stands for and encouraged the young competitors to keep the flag flying”.
